Commercial Development Committee Mission Statement

The mission of the Commercial Development Committee is to promote an environment conducive to the growth and development of small business in the greater Parkersburg area.  This will be accomplished through the improvement of resources and creation of opportunities for existing businesses and the development of new businesses.

Commercial Development Seminar Sub-Committee

This committee will provide business related seminars to area businesses in the Mid-Ohio Valley.  These will expand the knowledge of our area business owners/managers and in-turn help improve the Mid-Ohio Valley region's economic conditions.

Education Committee Mission Statement

Reinforce the interaction between the business sector and local academic community.  A strong bond between business and education promotes familiarity and helps to ensure business support for academic needs.  At the same time, educational institutions develop a good understanding of economics and free enterprise with students who will soon be an active part of the business community.

Industry & Technology Committee Mission Statement

The mission of the Industry and Technology Committee is to seek out, understand, create, nurture and maintain opportunities within our business community and economic and social environments that will support existing industries, encourage innovation and facilitate the growth of new technology-related business opportunities.

Local Government Committee Mission Statement

The mission of the Local Government Committee is to maintain awareness and involvement in local government issues and support overall goals of the Chamber on improving the business environment in the greater Parkersburg area.  The Committee intends to remain proactive in working with city, county and council officials in promoting projects that are in the best interest of the business community.

Public Relations Committee Mission Statement

The mission of the Public Relations Committee is to create an awareness among members of Chamber activities and programs as well as assist in maintaining a high profile of the Chamber in the community. This committee provides public relations activities for the other committees within the Chamber and communicates with local and appropriate media on behalf of the Chamber.
 
 

The primary mission of the Special Events Committee is to promote and improve business relations in the Mid Ohio Valley, Activities and events are planned to bring current and new Chamber members together by providing networking opportunities, business showcasing and encouraging members to do business with other Chamber members.  The Special Events Committee serves as an additional revenue generator for the Chamber's operating budget and, in part, for the Chamber Business and Education Foundation. 

The mission of the Student Leadership Development Program is to broaden opportunities for leadership to high school juniors in the Mid-Ohio Valley by providing them avenues for growth through participation in activities to interact, firsthand with the business leaders of today.

Transportation Committee Mission Statement

The Transportation Committee has been involved with many other organizations of this community such as W.W.W. and the Citizens Action Committee.  We gather up the consensus of these organizations and work on putting together the best possible plans and get these into those future plans.  Some of the current projects are:
