One of the major benefits of this area is its location. The American marketplace is within easy access by water, land or air. [See map at right.] Two major highways intersect at Parkersburg, placing more than 50 percent of the country’s major economical centers within a few hours drive. Interstate 77 connects Cleveland, Ohio, and Columbia, S.C. US 50 links Washington, D.C., and Cincinnati, Ohio. Traffic jams are rare on our well-maintained highways. | ![]() |

This construction will result in a divided, four to six lane highway with partially controlled access to new and existing locations. It will stretch from the US 50/I77 interchange, east of Parkersburg, to Belpre, Ohio.
Mid-Ohio Valley Regonal Airport, located near Williamstown, boasts the technology of larger metropolitan airports, but the conveniences of a non-congested area. For more than 50 years, it has served the Mid-Ohio Valley as a commuter center with constantly updated facilities and services. It has one of the longest runways in the state.
The airport restaurant is popular with local residents and commuting pilots who often fly to Parkersburg just for the food. The large parking area is a major convenience. Other services include a commuter counter, rental car agency, snack bar, restrooms, telephone banks, conference rooms, security area, and baggage pickup. The second floor meeting room provides a panoramic view of the airfield, and like the conference room in the main terminal, is available for public use.

Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority, Inc. provides low cost “Easy Rider” bus service throughout the city and also to West Virginia University-Parkersburg. Vehicles are new and some are specially equipped for handicapped persons. Yellow Cab also provides local transportation.
Greyhound Lines East operates two southbound and two northbound routes each day. The terminal is located at 1624 Blizzard Drive.
Rail service is by Chessie System. Parkersburg is on the main New York/St. Louis Line. The Ohio River Lines connect Parkersburg with Pittsburgh to the north, Huntington to the south. Carload service is offered. The Freight Station is located at 825 Depot St.
Many reputable barge lines use the Little Kanawha and Ohio Rivers to carry coal and other bulk materials to market. Parkersburg Steel Co. offers crane service at its pier, with rail or truck interconnection.
More than 30 common carriers provide motor freight trucking through this area for both long and short hauls. Approximately eight companies have local offices.
